Becker is drawn to sculpture’s ability to give physical form to people, stories, and accomplishments that deserve to be remembered. Many commissions begin with a life or contribution worth honoring — a founder, philanthropist, scientist, artist, civic leader, family member, or institution-defining achievement. A successful work must feel personal to those who know the story, while also carrying meaning for future generations who encounter it in a public, private, or institutional setting.

Becker’s commissioned works include official Hall of Fame portrait busts for the Television Academy, as well as projects for Scripps Research, ResMed, the Los Angeles Athletic Club, the City of Palm Springs, Hyatt Seabird Resort, 20th Television, The Walt Disney Company, and public and private collections. His sculpture has been recognized with the National Sculpture Society’s Edward Fenno-Hoffman Prize for uplifting works.

His background as a Stanford-trained engineer, including several U.S. patents, along with decades of project-management experience, informs the practical side of his sculpture practice. Scale, material, structure, fabrication, installation, schedule, and long-term durability are considered from the beginning. He works closely with families, architects, administrators, fabricators, and contractors to guide projects from first idea to finished work.

Alongside commissioned projects, Becker creates studio sculpture exploring figure, character, reflection, and the contemporary possibilities of bronze and stainless steel. Across both studio works and commissions, his goal is to create work that honors its subject, belongs to its setting, and continues to matter over time.
